CRPROF-NQF5-KM-11 Practical Assignments

The Practical skills component builds on what was learned in the knowledge component and will give the learner the necessary practice through a practical exercise that may be carried out as follows:

  • In the classroom setting
  • In a small group setting
  • Or as per the requirements of the particular Assignment. 

The completed Integrated Assessment Criteria (IAC) must be uploaded onto the LMS as per the prescribed procedures. Please make sure that you upload and allocate your IACs to the correct section on the LMS.  Your assignments are to be uploaded onto the LMS at the end of a part, together with the knowledge modules where they are linked. For instance – A practical assignment (PM12, PM13, PM14, PM15 and PM16) is to be submitted at the end of Knowledge Module 11.

The assessment of the practical assignments will be carried out as per the usual assessment procedure. 

Practical Assignment 12 (PM-12): Plan how to mobilise an assembly to share the good news of Jesus Christ with their community

The outcome of this module is to provide you with an opportunity to develop the ability to mobilize a faith community to share the good news of Jesus Christ with its community.

PM-12-PS01: Sensitize (Alert) the local assembly concerning the missional task through evangelism:

  1. IAC0101: Select standard methods, procedures or techniques and incorporate them in a plan that focuses on the missional task of an assembly; include in the plan the following:
  • Intercession for the unreached people of the world.
  • Exposing the assembly members to the situation and plight of unreached people (during worship services, through different media, newsletters, etc.).

Explanatory Notes: Identify a faith assembly; investigate and report on this faith community’s general understanding of the missional task of evangelism and the level of their commitment to this task.  Prepare a message that can be used to inform the faith community about the missional task of evangelism and to explain the meaning and scope of the Great Commission and how it involves the members of the local assembly.

Draw up a plan to alert the local assembly regarding their missional task and present or communicate the plan to a group in the assembly.

PM-12-PS02: Plan how to mobilize the local assembly to reach out to the community with the Gospel through evangelism and/or church planting:

  1. IAC0201: Gather information from a range of sources to select information appropriate to the outreach opportunities and analyze and evaluate that information

Explanatory Notes: Identify a specific faith community’s evangelism and/or church planting opportunity and assist the faith community in identifying evangelism opportunities in which they can be practically involved. Do an appropriate analysis and report on the situation of the target group as part of the process of mobilizing the faith community.

Word Count: 1000 – 1200 Words. 

  1. IAC0202: Identify, evaluate, and suggest an appropriate outreach mobilization plan within a faith community context, and apply solutions based on relevant methods, the nature and style of evangelism and/or church planting models

Explanatory Notes: Identify methods of evangelism that will be best suited to the purpose of the faith community and obtain suitable training material for different methods. 

Identify methods, the nature and style of evangelism and/or church planting that would be relevant and most suitable to the situation and environment of the faith community and develop a mobilization plan for evangelism and/or church planting for the faith community, in consultation with the relevant leaders of the faith community. The information that was developed as part of the process (nature and style, opportunities, and the report on contextual analysis) should be used in the mobilization plan.

Practical Assignment 13 (PM-13): Plan outreach programs to deal with socio-economic and other relevant needs in the wider community

PM-13-PS01: Identify the socio-economic developmental needs and assets of the community.

  1. IAC0101: Gather information from a range of sources to select information appropriate to the social-economic development needs of the broader community and analyze and evaluate that information in a report.

Explanatory Notes: Identify a faith community setting and plan an appropriate research and analysis process in the faith community’s nearby community to determine socio-economic and other relevant developmental needs and assets of the community and compile a report that highlights the assets and needs that the faith community as missional entity and body of Christ should be aware of and should consider responding to the needs. 

Word Count: 1000 – 1500 Words. 

PM-13-PS02: Determine relevant development objectives and prepare sustainable plans:

  1. IAC0201: Identity, evaluate and suggest an asset-based action plan addressing at least one developmental goal within a familiar context.

Explanatory Notes: Based on your previous analyses as to the socio-economic development needs and assets in the community near your identified faith community, you must initiate a process to determine developmental objectives in conjunction with community representatives, facilitate, in conjunction with the community representatives, the compilation of an asset-based action plan related to at least one of the development goals and identify providers and sponsors from the community to support the implementation of the plan. 

Finally, design a monitoring and evaluation strategy that could be used to evaluate the level of success of the action plan when implemented, and describe a contingency planning strategy to guarantee the sustainability of the initiative.

PM-13-PS03: Initiate, support and monitor community development programs.

  1. IAC0301: Gather information from a range of sources to select information appropriate to the development program and analyze and evaluate that information in a report that highlights the benefits and challenges of participation by the faith community

Explanatory Notes: As per your previously identified faith community setting, you must identify sustainable development programs in the community in which the faith community could get involved and write a report on the characteristics of the programs, highlight the benefits and challenges to the faith community regarding possible participation in the existing community programs, and recommend on the possible participation of the faith community.

Word Count: 1000 – 1500 Words. 

PM-13-PS04: Initiate and drive campaigns requiring advocacy, public witness, and social justice activism:

  1. IAC0401: Gather information from a range of sources to select information appropriate to the presented social justice scenario and analyze and evaluate that information in a media statement, essay or report that highlights the main issues of the social justice debate

Explanatory Notes: Identify a specific faith community’s social setting that requires public mobilization and awareness and facilitates a biblical understanding of social justice in the faith community. Identify cases in the wider community requiring advocacy, public witness, and social justice activism and engage in a public debate on each of the cases by writing a letter to a newspaper or engaging in a debate (Classroom setting) on the issue on social media.

Word Count: 1000 – 1500 Words. 

Practical Assignment 14 (PM-14): Initiate and/or participate in interventions to deal with needs and emergency situations in the community

PM-14-PS01: Mobilize a faith community to render support during emergency situations:

  1. IAC0101: Understand different kinds of systems available to render support during emergency situations, their constituent parts, the relationships between these parts and where the faith community could and should play a role.

Explanatory Notes: Identify a faith community setting and conduct a community risk assessment. Prepare an emergency plan for the risks identified and discuss this in a study group. 

Word Count: 1000 – 1500 Words. 

Practical Assignment 15 (PM-15): Participate in ecumenical development initiatives

PM-15-PS01: Participate in interfaith community development structures, forums, and programs:

  1. IAC0101: Gather information from a range of sources to select information appropriate to participate in an interfaith development program and analyze and evaluate that information to produce an outline of how a faith community could participate in interfaith community development structures, forums, and programs.

Explanatory Notes: Identify an inter-faith community and develop an interfaith development forum or program, you must be able to identify stakeholders, role players and leaders in the wider community and select and equip members of the faith  community to participate in development projects in the wider community. Provide a platform for inter-faith community development programs with the faith community members. 

Word Count: 1500 – 2000 Words. 

Practical Assignment 16 (PM16): Plan and manage the effective use of media

PM-16-PS01: Select and utilize appropriate multi-media:

  1. IAC0101: Communicate information, using conventions appropriate to the context, in written and oral or signed form or in a practical demonstration to develop leaders in a faith community.

Explanatory Notes: Given a specific communication situation (information that must be distributed), you must be able to formulate the message to be communicated, Identify the audience/target group/location relevant to the message, and select a preferred mode of media interface (radio, newspaper, television, pamphlets, etc.).

You must consider the budget implications of your preferred media use and, finally, use the selected media to communicate the message.

Word Count: 1000 – 1500 Words. 

PM-16-PS02: Involve church members in the implementation plan of a communication strategy/drive. 

  1. IAC0201: Select and apply standard methods, procedures, techniques or modes of communication and plan and manage a communication campaign within a familiar and supported environment.

Explanatory Notes: Given a specific communication situation (such as a healing service, guest speakers, community-based gathering, etc.), you must create an interest in the communication need and establish a relevant existing skills database among church members that could help with various modes of communication (designing, printing, distributing, etc.) Develop a plan to develop the required skills among church members to implement a strategy and produce or require a variety of communication media to be used in the identified community. Word Count: 1000 – 1500 Words.
